Mika's First Week back to School

Wow, where did the summer go?  Anyone know?  Our six week break goes by so quick!  As a child I remember school getting out around the 6th of June and we'd head back to school on the 1st tuesday of September.  The biggest difference is that Mikayla has 2 weeks off in October, 2 weeks of in December, and 2 weeks of in March.  So, kinda year round, but not.  The other new thing about this year is that Mika got a new teacher.  For those of you who don't know, Mikayla's school has what is called "loop" teaching.  Where the students stay with the same class and teacher for 2 years.  So, when they come back to school the next year they are familiar with the schedule and how the teacher teaches.  (ex: k and 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th).  Anyhow, Mika would have had the same teacher last year, but she left in December.   And the substitute was awesome, but not going to stay 'cause she was one of the moms at the school.  She just filled in.  However, did a great job and the kids really liked her too.  But, now we have Ms. Ostler.  Mika really likes her and we do too!  She is very very nice and friendly.  YEAH!  OH, and an awesome teacher.  She used to teach the 2-3 graders, but has wanted to switch back to K-1.  The other really cool thing is that all of our kids should end up having her when they go to school.  Siblings end up with the same teacher if possible to keep families knowing the teacher. Well, here's to another year in school, that I'm sure will fly by way to quick (just like the last one)! And heres to updating my blog weekly....(hmmmm yeah that's really worked out well)... ;)

Mika's 1st day going to 1st Grade.  She is so excited to be in Ms. Ostlers Class

Mikayla's new shoes are so CUTE!
